I had decided some time back that Winter 2003 was the time for a trip to Central or South America. Wenyao was game, and Jianyun was planning a trip to the region as well. After narrowing it down to Central America, we finally settled on Honduras!

The big decision was whether to get a tour package or do it on our own. The original plan was to land in San Pedro Sula and find local tours to the places we wanted to visit, like the Mayan ruins at Copan. Then Wenyao found Honduras Coco Tours who offered really good prices on fully guided tours and that was that! All decisions should be this easy!

I tried traveling light again with my 30l daypack (most backpackers carry 50l hiking packs). I'm curious to find out how little stuff I can survive on for any backpacking-ish excursion.
